Our
Vision - Hopes and Dreams
Special Kids with
Special Needs is a personal record of our family's journey of raising
children with special needs. When we first found out that we had not
only one, but two children with disabilities, we read every book we
could find, saw every specialist that would see us, and relentlessly
searched the internet for information and direction. What we've
discovered is that there is a lot of information out there. So much
so that it is confusing, especially for a parent who is grieving a
new diagnosis and overwhelmed with not knowing where to find support
and information.
"Wouldn't it
be great," we thought to ourselves, "if there was a Web
site where we could track everything we're going through? A site that
can pull together the hours and hours of special needs research we
have already done, so that other parents can see that they're not
alone out there?"
We've been very
lucky to have the time and ability to find the best possible
information and resources for our children, and we're certainly not
done yet. But we also know that most parents do not have unlimited
time to spend researching specific disabilities. Life, work, the
needs of your children, and exhaustion get in the way. So, as we
begin building specialneedskids.ca we would like to invite you to
share in our journey, and perhaps find a few ideas to help you along
your own journey.
